Find Canadian-Owned Web Hosts

I research Canadian-owned web hosting companies, checking business ownership, provider-owned hardware, Canadian server locations, public network records and CAD billing. A Canadian server location alone does not make a hosting company Canadian-owned.

How I Choose Canadian Web Hosts

I check Canadian-owned web hosting companies for ownership, provider-owned hardware and servers in Canada. A Canadian server alone isn't enough.

01
Canadian Ownership

Legally registered in Canada with Canadian ownership that I can reasonably verify.

02
Provider-Owned Hardware

The provider owns its hosting hardware and runs qualifying servers in Canadian data centres.

03
CAD Billing

Canadian customers must be able to pay for hosting in Canadian dollars at checkout. Other currencies may also be offered.

04
Network Transparency

Enough information is available to verify servers, network records, IP resources or data-centre relationships.

Canadian Web Hosts With Verified Infrastructure

Last Updated By Kenny B:

FullHost

AS39962

FullHost is a Canadian-owned host based in Victoria, British Columbia, with infrastructure in Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto and Montréal. It operates AS39962, manages its own IP space and says it deploys its own server hardware, giving it more direct control over the hosting stack.

ARIN records associate AS39962 and routed IPv4 and IPv6 resources with FullHost. Its Toronto presence includes 151 Front Street West, while the company advertises four Canadian hosting regions.
Best For

Canadian businesses, developers and agencies that want Canadian-hosted managed web hosting, VPS or developer cloud infrastructure, with multiple Canadian regions and more direct control over the network and server stack.

HostScout verification, September 16, 2026: I rechecked FullHost’s Canadian ownership details and Victoria business address, then matched AS39962 and its routed IPv4/IPv6 resources against current ARIN data. I also rechecked the provider’s published Canadian regions rather than assuming every FullHost product runs from the same facility.

Beyond regular web and WordPress hosting, FullHost Cloud supports Node.js, Python, Ruby, Go, Java and Kubernetes.
What caught my attention was its developer platform, not just the usual website plans. For Node.js hosting in Canada, it offers Git deployment and automatic resource scaling. I would compare its usage-based billing with a fixed-price VPS before choosing where to run an application.
FullHost also publishes the same $11.89 CAD annual price for .CA registration, transfer and renewal on its domain pricing page, which makes the ongoing domain cost easier to check.

Web Hosting Canada

Web Hosting Canada (WHC) is a privately owned Canadian host headquartered in Montréal and operating since 2003. It offers shared hosting, managed WordPress, VPS, dedicated servers, domains and email, with CAD billing and 24/7 bilingual support.

WHC combines web hosting and server products with domain registration, business email and reseller services. It is accredited by CIRA and ICANN, so businesses can keep several core website services under one Canadian provider.
Best For

Small and mid-sized Canadian businesses that want an all-in-one provider for web hosting, managed WordPress, domains, email, VPS or dedicated servers, with CAD billing and bilingual support.

HostScout verification, September 16, 2026: I rechecked WHC’s Canadian company identity, Montréal head office and current Canadian-hosting claims. WHC’s infrastructure is broader than one simple ASN label, so I verify server location at the product level instead of treating one network number as proof that every service is hosted in the same place.

For Canadian small business hosting, I find the combination of website, domain and email services practical. The 24/7 French and English support is also worth considering for a bilingual team.
WHC includes a free assisted website migration with its web-hosting plans. Its transfer documentation covers files, databases, optional email transfers, DNS changes and testing, with domain registration transfers handled separately.
Moving a WordPress site and its business email to a Canadian host? The published standard migration allowance covers a site up to 10 GB, one database and up to five email addresses. Larger sites or additional mailboxes should be discussed with the migration team first.

HostBilby

AS401665

HostBilby is an Ontario-incorporated independent host with Toronto infrastructure at 151 Front Street West. HostBilby Inc. operates AS401665 and announces its own IPv4 and IPv6 resources, with shared hosting, VPS, VDS and owned bare-metal options.

ARIN records tie AS401665 directly to HostBilby Inc. The provider also publishes a Toronto looking glass and peers at Canadian internet exchanges, giving technical users more visibility into how the network is routed.
Best For

Technical users, small businesses and developers that want Toronto-based VPS, VDS or bare metal from an independent Canadian operator with owned hardware, direct network visibility and included backup tooling.

HostScout Verification Checked September 16, 2026

HostScout verification, September 16, 2026: I rechecked HostBilby’s Ontario incorporation details published by the company, matched AS401665 in ARIN to HostBilby Inc., and confirmed the Toronto deployment at Telehouse, 151 Front Street West. The corporate mailing address and the server facility are deliberately treated as two separate locations.

HostBilby is newer than the established national brands in this directory. It offers VPS and VDS through VirtFusion alongside dedicated servers; select Toronto when Canadian server location matters, since it also advertises regions outside Canada.
For Toronto VPS hosting with backups, its Value, Ultra and VDS plans list daily backups and seven on-demand snapshot slots. Those are useful recovery options to compare alongside CPU, RAM and storage.
I also noticed a restriction worth flagging in its VPS FAQ. HostBilby says email is not allowed from its VPS and VDS servers. Ask support about permitted mail delivery before using one for a website that sends contact-form messages or order confirmations.

CanHost

AS40438

CanHost Inc. is a Canadian-owned infrastructure provider based in Kelowna, British Columbia. CanHost Inc. operates AS40438, manages its own IP resources and runs a Kelowna colocation facility. Its services include web hosting, VPS, dedicated servers and colocation.

CanHost has a longer network history than many smaller hosting brands. ARIN records associate AS40438 with the company and show its routed IPv4 and IPv6 resources, providing a public network identity that can be checked independently.
Best For

Businesses and IT teams that want hosting, VPS, dedicated servers, backups, object storage and colocation with one Canadian infrastructure provider in British Columbia.

HostScout verification, September 16, 2026: ARIN lists AS40438 to Canhost Inc. at 3190 Sexsmith Road in Kelowna, matching the company’s published business location. I also rechecked the registered network resources and the provider’s Kelowna colocation offering, making this one of the clearer cases where the company and network records line up directly.

CanHost's C3S object storage uses the S3 API and is backed by Ceph. Its storage service offers a Canadian location for backup files or application storage, with packages starting at 500 GB.
The storage service is what caught my attention beyond its VPS and dedicated servers. For teams looking for S3-compatible object storage in Canada, it is an option to investigate without moving the website itself. I would check compatibility with the existing backup software and test a restore before relying on it.

PlanetHoster is a Quebec-founded host established in 2007 and headquartered in Laval. It operates AS53589 and offers infrastructure in Canada, France and Switzerland, with French and English support and a selectable Canadian region.

PlanetHoster operates its own network under AS53589. Public routing records associate the ASN with PlanetHoster IP space, while the company publishes Canadian infrastructure in Quebec alongside its European regions.
Best For

HostScout verification, September 16, 2026: ARIN lists AS53589 to PlanetHoster at 4416 Louis-B.-Mayer Street in Laval, and PlanetHoster’s own network documentation identifies AS53589 as its network. I separately rechecked that the current World platform lets customers choose a Canadian region instead of inferring residency from the company address alone.

The World platform covers web hosting and supports WordPress, PHP and developer runtimes, while HybridCloud provides managed dedicated resources for heavier workloads. PlanetHoster is accredited by CIRA, ICANN and AFNIC.
For agencies and multi-site owners, each Web Project is isolated and can be placed in Canada independently. That is a useful distinction when different client sites have different location requirements.
I find that per-project choice useful when comparing Canadian hosting for multiple websites. The World uses PlanetHoster's N0C control panel, rather than cPanel, so account management will be different for anyone switching. Confirm the migration process and backup retention for the plan you choose, as the page currently gives different retention periods in different sections.

4GoodHosting

4GoodHosting is a Vancouver-based Canadian-owned host with server capacity in Vancouver and Toronto. It offers Linux and Windows hosting, managed WordPress, VPS and dedicated servers, and says it manages its own server hardware.

4GoodHosting publishes Vancouver and Toronto as its main Canadian server locations and describes a redundant network with TorIX connectivity. Its Windows VPS and Windows hosting options also give it a useful niche among smaller Canadian providers.
Best For

Canadian small businesses, nonprofits and customers that want affordable Linux or Windows hosting, managed WordPress, VPS or dedicated servers with Vancouver and Toronto options.

I do not assign 4GoodHosting a standalone ASN on this card because the company does not present one as its primary public network identity.

Its charity program offers free web hosting for registered Canadian charities, with discounted paid plans for organizations that need more resources.
Annual-or-longer hosting terms include free assisted website migration, and the company says shared sites are backed up daily. That gives an existing small-business website a migration option without rebuilding the account manually.
I looked more closely at its charity hosting offer because free hosting still has limits. The published package includes 500 MB of storage, and activation requires a valid Canada Revenue Agency charity registration. Domain registration is charged separately on the free plan, so it is not a free hosting-and-domain bundle.

The Internet Centre (InCentre)

AS6171

The Internet Centre (InCentre) is a Canadian-owned web host and infrastructure provider based in Edmonton, Alberta. It operates web hosting, virtual servers and colocation from its own south Edmonton data centre, with company-owned infrastructure and a BGP-peered network it owns and operates.

InCentre has been part of Alberta's internet infrastructure for decades, with roots going back to CCI Networks and Corporate Computers Inc. Its services include Canadian web hosting, VPS hosting, colocation, business internet and communications services.
Best For

Alberta businesses, nonprofits and organizations that want Canadian-owned web hosting, VPS or colocation from a provider operating its own Edmonton data centre and network.

HostScout verification, September 16, 2026: I confirmed The Internet Centre's Edmonton operation, Canadian ownership statements and current infrastructure documentation. InCentre states that its web hosting and virtual server services run on infrastructure it owns and operates inside its own south Edmonton data centre. I also checked its network and IP records, including AS6171, against its published Canadian hosting and network claims.

For businesses looking for Edmonton web hosting or Alberta VPS hosting, the physical setup is the part I pay attention to. InCentre says it operates its own south Edmonton facility, hosting hardware and network.
Its colocation service is for organizations that want to place their own equipment in a locally operated data centre. Website hosting and virtual servers are separate options for customers who do not want to buy and maintain physical servers.
There is also a practical detail in its hosting documentation: accounts and virtual servers are backed up nightly to hardware in a different building. Its website and email hosting includes filtering through company-operated mail gateways in Edmonton. I would ask how restores are requested and how long recovery copies are retained before choosing a plan.

Serv3r

AS400130

Hébergement Serv3r.net inc. is a Quebec infrastructure provider focused on Montréal VPS, bare metal and colocation. Serv3r operates AS400130 and originates its own IPv4 and IPv6 resources, and says it owns its server equipment and does not oversell VPS capacity.

Serv3r publishes a no-overselling policy for VPS capacity. Dedicated-server customers can select an offered operating system or install their own, then reinstall when needed.
Best For

Developers, sysadmins and infrastructure buyers that need Montréal VPS, dedicated bare metal or colocation from a Canadian operator with its own ASN, IP space and flexible network options.

HostScout verification, September 16, 2026: ARIN lists AS400130 to Hébergement Serv3r.net inc. in Quebec, while the current company site lists 3235 Av. de la Gare in Mascouche as its contact address. Montréal is treated here as the server and colocation location, not as the company mailing address.

Its Montreal VPS hosting, bare metal and colocation are aimed at buyers who want control over server configuration. The company has its own network identity and publishes support for IPv4 and IPv6.
A 1 Gbps connection is included with dedicated servers, with faster connections available by arrangement. Hardware changes such as extra RAM or a different processor can also be discussed with the provider.
I found the custom network options in its dedicated-server documentation more interesting than another list of CPU models. Serv3r says it can arrange a private LAN, a custom firewall or load balancing. For dedicated servers in Montreal, that gives teams with several applications something specific to discuss before requesting a quote.

Astral Internet

AS394277

Astral Internet is an independent Quebec host founded in 2001. Astral Internet Inc. operates AS394277 and originates its own 104.254.180.0/22 IPv4 block. Its platform supports WordPress, Linux, Windows and developer workloads in the Montréal region.

Astral says it manages its own equipment in Tier III data-centre space on Montreal’s South Shore, with optional replication to a second facility on the Island of Montreal for geographic redundancy.
Best For

Quebec businesses and developers that need managed hosting with Linux, Windows, WordPress, Node.js, Python or ASP.NET, plus migration help and Montréal-area redundancy options.

The provider’s Montréal South Shore and secondary-facility claims were checked separately from that corporate/network address.

Its developer services cover Node.js, Python, Django, Git and SSH alongside ASP.NET Core and Microsoft SQL. The required hosting plan depends on the application rather than simply whether the site uses WordPress.
Annual web-hosting plans include free website migration. That can help with an existing site, but confirm which files, databases and email accounts the transfer covers before switching.
The separate Windows offering is what caught my eye here. For ASP.NET Core hosting in Canada, Astral publishes plans with Plesk and Microsoft SQL databases, rather than requiring every customer to start with a Windows VPS. I would check the supported runtime and database size against the application before ordering.

HostPapa

AS23273

HostPapa is a Canadian-founded, privately owned hosting company headquartered in Burlington, Ontario. It offers shared hosting, WordPress, VPS, dedicated servers, domains and email across a global footprint, so buyers should confirm the Toronto location when Canadian data residency matters.

HostPapa controls network resources across several ARIN-registered autonomous systems and has expanded its infrastructure through acquisitions. The result is a global network footprint rather than a Canada-only platform.
Best For

Small businesses and WordPress users that want a familiar all-in-one host with guided migration, a Toronto hosting option and a larger international support footprint.

HostScout verification, September 16, 2026: I rechecked HostPapa Inc.’s current Burlington mailing address and the ARIN record tying AS23273 to HostPapa. Because HostPapa operates globally and has continued expanding through acquisitions, I verify Canadian data residency by the service location selected rather than by Canadian ownership alone.

For customers specifically looking for hosting in Canada, HostPapa offers a Toronto option. Confirm the location of the chosen product and its backups rather than treating its Canadian head office as a Canada-only hosting promise.
Web-hosting plans advertise free website migration and a 30-day money-back period, subject to the refund terms. Managed WordPress also advertises a free 30-minute training session.
I would separate the low introductory web-hosting price from the Managed WordPress service. The latter advertises automatic core, plugin and theme updates, plus nightly offsite backups. For a small business comparing Canadian WordPress hosting, those maintenance features are worth pricing separately instead of assuming they come with the cheapest plan.

Worktree

AS402625

Worktree is a Canadian-owned Git, DevOps and cloud platform operated by Montréal-based BlackieOps Technologies Inc. It combines Git repository hosting, Actions-compatible CI/CD, package and container registries with Worktree Cloud. Its primary services now run on company-owned server and network hardware in Montréal under AS402625.

Worktree Code is based on the open-source Gitea project and provides Git repository hosting for individual developers and teams. Its collaboration tools include pull requests, releases, artifacts, issue tracking, package hosting and OCI-compatible container image registries. Worktree Actions adds a CI/CD platform designed to run most existing GitHub Actions workflows with only minor changes.
Best For

Canadian developers, software teams and organizations that want Git hosting, Actions-compatible CI/CD, package and container registries, static-site hosting and CDN services from an independent Montréal-based platform with direct control over much of its Canadian infrastructure.

HostScout Verification Checked September 16, 2026

HostScout verification, September 16, 2026: I rechecked BlackieOps Technologies Inc., Worktree's infrastructure disclosures and AS402625. Worktree states that its primary services now run on company-owned server and network hardware in Montréal, using its own network and IP resources from a Canadian-owned data centre.

Worktree Cloud is a Canadian cloud platform being built from the ground up in Montréal. Its Sites service provides static-site hosting, with custom domains, automatic TLS and integration with Worktree Actions; a domestic CDN is also available. S3-compatible object storage is being rolled out separately, while a container runtime, managed databases and authoritative DNS remain on the roadmap.
The infrastructure is also unusual for a newer Canadian developer platform. In August 2026, BlackieOps reported moving Worktree onto company-owned server and network hardware in Montréal. The company operates its own network, AS402625, and its own IP resources from Canadian-owned colocation. Worktree also publicly discloses third-party infrastructure used for resilience, including OVH in Beauharnois for some Actions compute and FullHost Object Storage in Beauharnois for backups.
What I find useful is the link between Canadian Git hosting and publishing a static website from the same workflow. This suits projects such as documentation sites or portfolios that can be built into static files. It is not a drop-in replacement for a PHP-based WordPress hosting account.

How We Verify

How HostScout Verifies Canadian Web Hosts

Before I feature a provider on HostScout, I look beyond its marketing. I check Canadian ownership, hosting infrastructure, ASN and IP records, network routes and data-centre details to verify what the provider actually owns and operates.

01

Check Canadian Ownership

I review public business information, company addresses and ownership records to distinguish Canadian-owned hosts from foreign providers that simply market to Canadians or operate servers in Canada.

02

Check ASN & IP Records

I use ARIN Whois/RDAP to check Autonomous System Numbers, IP blocks and the organizations those resources are registered to. These records help show who controls network resources and how the provider's infrastructure is connected.

03

Trace the Network

I compare BGP routes, upstream transit providers and public peering information, including PeeringDB, to see which networks carry traffic and whether the host operates its own network infrastructure.

04

Confirm the Data Centre & Hardware

I compare provider documentation, server IPs, routing data, facility addresses and colocation details to verify that the provider owns its hosting hardware and operates it from Canadian data centres.

Canadian Data Sovereignty

Canadian Data Residency vs. Data Sovereignty

Canadian data residency is where your website, applications and backups are stored. Data sovereignty also considers who controls that data and which countries' laws may apply.

I check server and backup locations separately from company ownership and access. The Government of Canada's cloud guidance explains why foreign laws can still apply to data stored in Canada.

Read the Data Residency and Sovereignty Guide.

Data Residency in Canada

Where are the website, application data and databases physically stored?
Are backups and disaster-recovery copies also stored in Canada?
Which Canadian data-centre region will host this specific plan?
Does that location meet your contracts or internal data-residency requirements?

Data Sovereignty Checks

Who owns and operates the hosting company and its parent business?
Who controls the servers, network, encryption keys and administrator access?
Can support teams or other providers access the data from outside Canada?
Which jurisdictions apply to the provider and its subcontractors?

Web Hosting for Canadian Small Businesses

For a small business website, I compare the full hosting cost, business email, backups and migration help before focusing on extra features.

CAD Billing and Renewals

Compare the renewal cost and payment term, not just the advertised monthly figure.

Business Email Hosting

Check whether mailboxes for your domain are included, how much storage you get and what costs extra.

Website Migration Help

Ask who moves your files, databases and email, and whether the transfer costs extra.

Backups and Restores

Confirm backup frequency, retention and how to request a restore before you need one.

Support and Maintenance

Find out which updates and technical tasks the provider handles, and what remains your responsibility.

Canadian Server Locations

Confirm where your website and backups are stored, rather than relying on the company's office address.

FAQ

Canadian Web Hosting FAQ

My answers on Canadian hosting costs, company ownership, server locations and choosing a plan.

How much does web hosting cost in Canada?
Examples checked September 16, 2026: 4GoodHosting Personal Cloud starts at $2.95 CAD/month with 36 months prepaid; CanHost Level 1 cPanel is $12 CAD/month on monthly billing. Compare the renewal price, upfront payment, taxes and extras, not just the advertised monthly rate.
How do I choose a Canadian-owned web hosting company?
Start with the legal business name in Canada's business registries. Registration alone does not prove Canadian ownership. I also check the owners, hardware, server locations, network records and CAD billing. Then compare the plan's backups, support and renewal costs.
Is Canadian-owned hosting the same as hosting in Canada?
No. Canadian-owned describes who owns the company; hosted in Canada describes the server location. A foreign-owned host can operate Canadian servers. I check company ownership, hardware ownership and the location of the specific hosting service separately.
Can I get free web hosting in Canada?
Yes, for some users. FullHost's Community Sponsorship program offers free hosting options or platform credits to eligible organizations, subject to approval. It is not an unrestricted free plan for everyone. Check eligibility, service limits and sponsorship conditions.
What should I look for in Canadian WordPress hosting?
Check backups, HTTPS, update support and who handles security. The Canadian Centre for Cyber Security recommends testing backups. My Canadian WordPress hosting guide covers providers, server locations and plan features.
Should I choose shared hosting or a Canadian VPS?
Shared hosting can suit a straightforward website without server-level control. Consider a Canadian VPS for custom software, root access or specific resource requirements. Check whether server management is included or your responsibility. My Canadian VPS hosting guide explains the options.
Should I host my Canadian website in Canada?
A nearby, well-connected server can reduce delay for Canadian visitors. CIRA explains how shorter network paths improve performance, but geography alone does not guarantee a faster website. Check the actual server region and test performance from where your customers are.
Can I register a .CA domain for my Canadian business?
Yes, if you meet CIRA's Canadian Presence Requirements. Eligible categories include Canadian citizens, permanent residents and corporations formed under Canadian law. Domain registration and hosting are separate: a .CA domain does not prove Canadian server location or hosting-company ownership.
What is the difference between data residency and data sovereignty?
Data residency is where data is stored. Data sovereignty concerns the laws and authorities that can govern access to it. Canada's public-cloud guidance explains why Canadian storage does not remove every foreign-jurisdiction risk. Check ownership, backups and third-party access separately.
Does hosting a website in Canada make it PIPEDA compliant?
No. Where PIPEDA applies, your organization remains accountable for personal information handled by its hosting provider. The Privacy Commissioner explains these cloud responsibilities. Server location alone does not address consent, safeguards or other applicable privacy obligations.
