How to Check Where a Website Is Hosted
Enter a domain or website URL above. I use public DNS and network information to estimate its hosting location, while keeping CDN results separate from evidence about the origin server.
Check Location & Network
Local GeoLite databases provide estimated IP locations, ASNs and network organizations. IP registration and reverse DNS add context where available.
Check for a CDN or Reverse Proxy
Known CDN and reverse-proxy signals are flagged. A visible proxy IP is not proof of the origin server's country.
Check Email Routing
MX records identify incoming mail servers. Their public IP locations do not confirm where mailbox contents or backups are stored.

What the results can tell you about a website's host, server location and use of a CDN.
How can I check if a website is hosted in Canada?
Enter the domain name or website URL above and select Check Website. Review the estimated country, public IP addresses and network details. A Canadian result is evidence about the visible infrastructure, not a guarantee about every service.
Why can Cloudflare or a CDN hide the real hosting location?
A CDN or reverse proxy can return its own IP addresses instead of the origin server's. The lookup may show the intermediary network, not where the website is hosted. Cloudflare nameservers alone do not prove proxying, because Cloudflare also provides DNS-only services.
How do I find out who hosts a website?
Look at the network organization, ASN and IP registration details. These can identify the infrastructure provider, but not always the reseller or company billing the customer. Nameservers identify the DNS service, which may be separate from the web host.
How accurate is the hosting location shown?
IP geolocation estimates where a public address is located. It is not a verified data-centre address. Database age, recent hosting moves and distributed networks can affect results. Confirm the server region with the provider when the location matters.
Does a .CA domain mean a site is hosted in Canada?
No. A .CA domain requires the registrant to meet CIRA's Canadian eligibility rules, not use a Canadian server. A .CA website can be hosted abroad, and a .com website can be hosted in Canada. Check the hosting separately.
Does a Canadian result mean all my data stays in Canada?
No. The check covers publicly visible web infrastructure. Databases, backups, email and third-party services may use other locations. MX records show incoming mail routing, not mailbox storage. Check those services separately when reviewing Canadian data residency.
Important Distinction
Hosted in Canada Is Not the Same as Canadian-Owned
A foreign-owned hosting company can operate servers in Canada. This tool checks public IP locations and network information, not who owns the company or its hardware.
